Frequently Asked Questions

How many, and of what sex, deer can I shoot?

At Paradise Valley Hunting Club each hunter is allowed 2 bucks per day and one doe per three day hunt. Doe season begins on September 15th.

What is included in a day rate or package?
Your price is all inclusive. We provide lodging, meals, and transportation to and from the stands. You are counted for dinner and lodging the night before your first hunt and the night of your last hunt.

How far are you from other forms of entertainment?
Here at the camp we have a fully equipped game room with satellite TV and internet, pool tables, ping pong, and cards. We also have a catch and release pond for fishing. Nearby there is Broxton Bridge which offers horseback riding, clay pigeons, released quail, pheasants, and ducks. Charleston, Savannah, and Columbia are all within an hour and 15 minutes.

What should I bring?
All you need to bring are your guns, hunting clothes, and personal items. We provide linens, towels, pillows, etc.

Where are you located?
We are in the Low Country of South Carolina off of Highway 601 in Bamberg County.

Where can I get my deer processed/quartered?
The local processor that we prefer to use is Southern Spice Venison Processing, which is within 5 minutes of the camp. Bring a cooler if you want to carry home a quartered deer. The fee is $18.00 for skinning, hanging, and quartering, and $55.00 for a basic processing.

When is the rut?
The main rut usually occurs about October 10th to November 10th, but tends to vary year by year. In 2005 it carried through Thanksgiving.

How long do the bucks stay in velvet?
The bucks usually shed their velvet around Labor Day and begin to separate out of their bachelor groups.

How do I get my South Carolina Hunting license?
There is a phone number that you can call and get your license. It is 1-888-434-7472. This line is 24/7. \ It is also available online at www.scdnr.com.

If you have any other questions please call. We work to accommodate the needs of many different types of hunters.
